Great Hotel Deals: How to Use the Web to Find Cheap Hotels

One of the most frustrating things about making a hotel reservation is the fact that there’s a strong chance you’ll overpay. Hotels are one of the most costly aspects of your vacation, and the last thing that you want to do is pay more than you have to. In this article I wanted to go over some of the common mistakes the people make when they’re booking their hotels, and talk about how it prevents you from getting the best hotel deals possible.

However, that leaves a lot of room for savings, which you’ll find many hotel deals are willing to offer. But how do you take advantage of them?

Tip #1: Travel During the Down Season

If you haven’t selected the dates for your vacation yet, then you might want to consider traveling during the down season. During the down months, hotels are going to have more rooms available and will be more anxious to fill those rooms by offering discounts.

However, the great thing about this tip is that it will help you save money in other areas of your vacation as well. Cheap hotels deals won’t be the only ones seeing a decrease in customers. Other businesses will suffer from the same thing. You might be able to save some money on activities as well.

Tip #2: Look for the More Unknown and Unrecognized Cheap Hotels Deals- Low Price Sort

When people travel to areas they’re not familiar with, they generally stick to name brands. For many people they don’t want to go off on a limb and accidentally get themselves a sub par room.

However, there are a couple of ways around it. For example, most price comparison websites are great about publishing reviews on cheap hotels deals. Previous customers will also write comments about their stays, so you can get an idea of what to expect.

What you’ll find is that many smaller hotel chains will offer lower prices. And if you pay attention to the reviews, you’ll find that some of them even offer a better experience. You can get those reviews on most price comparison sites, and also from Trip Advisor, if you’re still having trouble.

There have been a couple of times where I’ve seen two star hotels get 4 or 5 star ratings from their customers. Great deal in the making? I think so.

Tip #3: Don’t Paying too Much Attention to Star Rating

The star rating of a hotel can be a great measure of the hotel’s quality. The higher the stars, the better experience you’re likely to have.

The problem with the star rating is that it’s assigned by an organization and doesn’t really tell you what other people experienced. If you’re looking for a hotel deals, then it might be better to pay attention to the reviews other people have given, and the comments that they’ve made.

When I’m looking for a cheap hotel deals, I tend to care a little less about the star rating, and more about the overall experience. Generally, lower star hotels are cheaper, and if they’re offering a similar experience then it can be an opportunity to save money.

The last thing that you want is to overpay for a hotel that you don’t even like. If you find that other people have been satisfied with their stay then it’s more likely that you’ll be satisfied with yours too. You won’t know whether or not you’ll like the hotel solely by the star rating.

Tip #4: Not Thinking About Hidden Costs

What you’ll find when you’re booking a cheap hotel is that price comparison websites (and hotel websites) are very good about telling you what your reservation includes. You’ll generally know what amenities the hotel has, whether or not you can get Internet with your reservation, and sometimes what restaurants are in the area.

The problem is that they’re not nearly as good at telling you what your reservation doesn’t include. What are the hidden costs? And there’s always going to be a few.

Also think about transportation. How close is your cheap hotel to where you want to be? If you’re going to be spending a lot of money on transportation, it might be more convenient to find a different hotel deals that’s a little closer. It probably won’t save you any money, but it will definitely be easier.

Tip #5: Finding High Quality Options

Personally, I don’t think that enough people make their hotel deals reservations based on quality. I think people pay a lot more attention to price. And it’s not just about the star rating of the hotel. You need to know how other people feel about their visits. How satisfied were they? Would they go again? Those are questions you need to know the answer to.

Basically what I’m saying is that you should always check the reviews before you visit. If you’re going to pay a couple hundred dollars for a room (sometimes even thousands), then you should get to stay at a decent hotel deals. Most price comparison websites publish reviews about the cheap hotels you’re looking at, but sometimes not many people have commented on them. If not, Trip Advisor almost always has great reviews that you can check out before you book the hotel.
